Citrus Crush

citrus crush cocktail

Refreshingly tangy and icy cold, a good Citrus Crush is made with London dry gin, triple sec and fresh lemon and lime juices. This is the quintessential cocktail for after mowing the grass on a hot summers day.

If a Citrus Crush seems a little tame for you, then try a Mount Fuji Cocktail.

How To Make A Citrus Crush Cocktail

Add London dry gin, triple sec, simple syrup, juice of half a lime, juice of half a lemon and Ice (enough to fill the glass) into a blender. Pulse the blender until it becomes the consistency of a slushy and then pour into a chilled glass. Add the kaffir lime to the glass and garnish with the lemon slice.

Are the kaffir lime leaves essential?

Kaffir lime leaves can be difficult to find at times, they’re not completely necessary for your citrus crush cocktail. What they offer is a particular intense lime fragrance and a nice decorative touch for this particular cocktail.

If you don’t have the leaves, substitute them with a wedge of lime.

Can I substitute the triple sec?

The triple sec adds an orange taste and scent. You can substitute with  Grand Marnier or even Blue curaçao. If you don’t want to change the colour of the cocktail, then stick to triple sec or the Grand Marnier.

Which Gin should I use in a Citrus Crush?

We used Hendrick’s Gin when we made the recipe but you can use any good quality dry gin you like. Just stay away from the flavoured Gins for this recipe as most will muddle the flavour.

Head on over to the Hendrick’s website for some seriously cool cocktail ideas.
